St. Andrews Grammar’s senior girls football side has made history after they put together a dominant display to earn the school its first ever Associated and Catholic Colleges of WA (ACC) championship in any sport.
The school’s senior girls team emerged victorious in the grand final on Wednesday 27 August, topping South Coast Baptist College (the reigning champions for the past four straight years) 5-0.
It marks the latest accolade for the team this year, which has also been crowned the State Futsal champions, Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia National Schools Event (GOAANSE) Futsal Champions, and GOAANSE Football Champions.
Principal Craig Monaghan stated the success is a testament to their partnership with A-League club Perth Glory.

“We are going from strength to strength, and our football program adds another feather to our bow in terms of the various programs on offer,” Monaghan said in a press release on the win.
The team’s coach Steve Purton noted that “the team’s dedication and training are clearly reflected in this result”.
Team captain Ava highlighted their earlier successes in the other tournaments as having set the team up nicely to win the ACC championship.
“I thought the game was really good. The GOAANSE win and Steve (our coach) training with us really helped build us up,” Ava said.
“Beating a team that had won four years in a row – that’s pretty amazing! Winning GOAANSE and Futsal really boosted our confidence and helped bond the team. It all came together to build a winning tournament!”
The school’s senior boys team also tasted success earlier in the year with a victory in the GOAANSE Football Championships.
