No more messing about, the big moment of the semi-finals in the premiership has arrived.
This Friday night we’ll know if the sensational Alexandros of this season will have the ticket to the NPL grand final for 2025 firmly in their grasp.
The Greek Australian outfit are the clear favourites for the win. The ‘armada’ under John Anastasiadis looks unstoppable this year.
They’re playing sensational football, particularly entertaining, but above all effective. So effective that it’s led the yellow and blacks to the final of the Australia Cup and, of course, to the semi-final of the premiership.
The club’s supporters are living the dream. A season straight out of their wildest desires and wishes.
History seems to be on Heidelberg United’s side as well.
The last time Alexandros were beaten by the Lions was way back in 2008.

Since then, whenever the two sides have met, United have always come out on top, with the exception of last February’s clash, where the two teams shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. That’s worth noting too.
Preston Lions, though, are expected to make them pay dearly for any slip-ups.
They’re a tough, gritty bunch, capable of causing damage to any opponent. Something they proved last weekend when they managed to knock over last year’s champions, Oakleigh Cannons, with a 2-1 scoreline.
Alexandros will need to hit very high performance levels if they want to be the ones stamping their ticket to the grand final of the premiership.
The rumours that had been doing the rounds about shifting the match to Lakeside Stadium at South Melbourne didn’t prove true, so the clash will go ahead as planned at Alexandros’ home ground, Olympic Village, in Heidelberg West.
The massive semi-final is set for 7.30pm.
The match is of huge importance and the mighty Alexandros will need the help of all the fans in the Greek community.
Why not spend your Friday night alongside the Greek Australian team and their push to conquer the summit of Victorian football?
