The area of Greek history will be on full display at a series of holiday workshops organised for primary school-aged kids in Melbourne.
The workshops, organised by the Greek Community of Melbourne, will showcase a series of topics of interest, starting with a workshop at the Hellenic Museum on 24 September which will feature tours of the building, exploration of the exhibitions, and artwork sessions.
Following that there will be two specially designed museum education workshops aimed at children aged 5–10, which will be held on 29 September in Huntingdale and 2 October in Balwyn North.
The program, titled “Learning Through Exhibits – History and Arts for Children”, will see kids further research and explore the Hellenic Museum, with interactive games inspired by the museum’s exhibits showcasing important moments of Greek history and exploring key principles of painting and sculpture.
Simultaneously, the initiative is aiming to help cultivate the kids’ creative and observational skills while also strengthening their use and understanding of the Greek language.
