Two visiting academics Dr Sotiris Livas and Dr Emmanuel Karagiannis held a productive lunch meeting with distinguished members of the Greek Australian community at the “Patris” shop in Brunswick.

The duo engaged in discussions at the meeting on Monday 1 September with former Federal MP Maria Vamvakinou and local Deputy Mayor of Merri-Bek Council Helen Politis at the shop named after the famed ship that brought so many Greeks to Australia’s shores.

Others present at the lunch with Professor Dr Livas (Director of the Centre for Language and Politics at Ionian University) and Dr Karagiannis (Reader (professor without a chair) in International Security at King’s College London’s Department of Defence Studies) included:

Ahmet Keskin, director of the Australian Intercultural Society, Nikos Hatzoglou, Dr Andonis Piperoglou from the University of Melbourne, and Dr Michalis S. Michael.
