Greek professor Elia Psyllaki was celebrated at the Euroanalysis 2025 International Conference with the Robert Kellner Lecture Award, a top European distinction that recognises leading scientists in the field of Analytical Chemistry.
The professor at the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering of the Technical University of Crete received the honour at the conference held in Barcelona, which recognises substantive contributions in the advancement of research or education in Analytical Chemistry.
It is a landmark achievement for Greece with Professor Psyllaki being the first professor at a Greek university to earn the award.
The award, named after Professor Robert Kellner of the Vienna University of Technology, is given every two years as decided by a special jury, following a strict evaluation process of nominations submitted by the chemical associations of each European country.
The awards jury gave Professor Elia Psyllaki the honour, as stated in their announcement, “for her significant research contributions over the last five years, particularly in terms of the theory, practice and impact of green analytical chemistry and green sample preparation”.
Professor Psyllaki’s success stands as a great honour for herself, the Technical University of Crete as well as Greece, highlighting the contribution of the Greek scientific community to international research in a field of decisive importance for health and the environment.
