Tension and confrontations marked the last General Meeting of the Federation of Greek Elderly Citizen Clubs of Melbourne and Victoria held last Friday in the hall of the Pan-Macedonian Association of Melbourne and Victoria.
The purpose of the meeting was to elect an election committee and appoint a new Board of Directors.
However, according to a written statement by the Federation’s Public Relations Officer, Kostas Alaveras, “it was a stormy general meeting among the members of the former Board of Directors, something sad and unacceptable.”
To break the deadlock, it was decided to appoint a provisional Board of Directors, which will lead the Federation to elections for the appointment of a new Board of Directors on Friday 3 October 3 in the same hall of the Pan-Macedonian Association.
The interim Board of Directors is as follows:
President: Charalambos Protopsaltis
Vice President: Zina Axarlis
General Secretary: Aikaterini Horaitis
Assistant Secretary: Ermioni Nasiopoulos
Treasurer: Dimitra Mougrakis
Assistant Treasurer: Anastasia Papa Ioannou
Public Relations Officer: Kostas Alaveras
