Sebastian Leto has come back to haunt his former club in Panathinaikos as his Kifisia side pulled off the miracle win over the Greens to extend their woes.
The “Trifylli” suffered a 3-2 away defeat to the side managed by their former star in a thrilling contest on Monday morning (AEST) in the Greek Super League’s third round.
The game swung in momentum multiple times with Kifisia the first to strike in the seventh minute via an excellent shot into the bottom left by Andrews Tetteh.
Panathinaikos equalised quickly after from the penalty spot through Karol Swiderski (15′), and the Pole popped up again shortly into the second period after a horrible mistake from keeper Moises Ramirez.
The Kifisia shot stopper fumbled a simple catch from a Georgios Kyriakopoulos cross in the 53rd minute, with Swiderski getting an unintentional nudge on the ball that sent it straight into an empty net.
The hosts showed determination to make up for the error and it reaped great rewards as they brought it level once more in the 79th minute when Tetteh found Pavlos Pantelidis free in the box, with the winger smacking the ball in from close range.
Kifisia did not stop there as they found a 90+4th minute winner when a Tetteh shot ricocheted off keeper Bartlomiej Dragowski towards captain Hugo Souza, with the defender smashing the ball into the net to secure a famous victory.
The result is a huge blow for the Greens, who remain winless in the league this season, an even worse outcome when they consider their next clash will be against their bitter rivals and the reigning champions, Olympiacos.
A 69th minute goal by Aboubakary Koita helped AEK seal a 0-1 away success against Levadiakos, their third straight win of the season.
PAOK also made it three from three after downing OFI 1-2 away.
The Thessaloniki giants stormed into two-goal lead with strikes from Magomed Ozdoev (10′) and Dimitrios Pelkas (24′) and were close to a third when Andrija Zivkovic failed to convert a penalty in the 66th minute.
Thiago Nuss gave the Cretans hope in the 75th minute with a goal, though they ultimately fell.
Larissa fought from two goals down to secure a 2-2 away draw against Asteras Tripolis, demonstrating in many ways they have the fight to stay in the top flight.
The Arcadians took charge in the first half with two goals from Nikolaos Kaltsas (20′) and Julian Bartolo (43′).
The travellers fought back in the second and struck in the 69th minute via Giannis Pasas, with the same player stepping up to the penalty spot and levelling the game in the 90+4th minute to earn them a point.

Olympiacos kept their perfect league start intact with a thumping 5-0 win over Panserraikos at “Georgios Karaiskakis” Stadium on Sunday morning.
The Serres club suffered a major setback when Adnre Green was given a straight red in the 35th minute.
The Piraeus giants took advantage of the situation with five goals in the second half, the first coming in the 48th minute via Ayoub El Kaabi.
Francisco Ortega made it two in the 66th minute before winger Daniel Podence found their third in the 70th, just minutes after coming on in his first game since returning to the “red-whites”.
Yusuf Yazici missed a golden chance from the penalty spot to grab their fourth in the 83rd minute, though new signing Mehdi Tarema made up for it with two late goals in the 88th and 90+3rd minute.
Aris secured a winning start for new coach Manolo Jimenez after earning a 1-2 comeback away victory over Atromitos.
The Peristeriotes opened the scoring in the 18th minute through Georgios Tzovaras, though Dudu Rodrigues managed to make it level in again in the 32nd minute.
Aris’ goal machine Loren Moron then stepped up for them in the 56th minute in what proved to be the match-winning strike, ensuring maximum points to kick off their term with Jimenez.
Volos sealed their first points of the season after beating Panetolikos 1-2 away.
The Magnesia side cruised to an early two-goal lead, thanks to strikes from Joca (11′) and Said Hamulic (17′).
The Agrinio outfit managed to halve the deficit on the half hour mark through Konrad Michalak, but ultimately were unable to find another as Volos propelled themselves out of last place.
