The outcome of Heidelberg United’s Australia Cup Final next month will be closely watched by the mother country, with the Deputy Regional Governor of Florina sending their support and well wishes to the club ahead of the momentous occasion.
Athanasios Taskas delivered a warm message to “Alexandros” on behalf of the Municipality of Florina (located in northwestern Macedonia, Greece), expressing that the people of the area feel immense pride for the club’s successful Cup run so far.
The Deputy Regional Governor noted in his message:
“On October 4th, you will find yourself faced with a great challenge, but also a unique opportunity to write history in golden letters and put our name in the Pantheon of those who conquered one of the greatest institutions of domestic competition.”
Taskas praised their journey which he described as a “David” and “Goliath” story brought to life that has travelled far beyond the borders of Australia.
“With your dreams as motivation, your talent as resources, and the support of the Greek diaspora, prove that your ceiling is only… the sky.”
He closed the message by saying:
“From here in the remote Florina, our hearts will beat fast on the day of the final and our thoughts will be with you, anticipating the long-awaited result.
Good luck in the Australia Cup final.”
