Sydney’s Greek Orthodox community warmly received two distinguished church leaders on Tuesday, ahead of the 2nd Pan-Australian Clergy Synaxis.

Metropolitan Ioustinos of Nea Krini and Kalamaria, together with Hieromonk Chrysostomos, Elder of the Holy Cell of St Panteleimon in the Skete of Koutloumousiou Monastery on Mount Athos, arrived in Sydney to participate in the major clerical gathering taking place from 29 September to 1 October 2025.

At Sydney Airport, they were greeted by Archbishop Makarios of Australia, who expressed heartfelt thanks and words of fraternal love. The Archbishop was joined by Bishops Iakovos of Miletoupolis and Kyriakos of Melbourne, Bishops-elect Athinagoras of Canberra and Christoforos of Kerasounta, clergy of the Archdiocese, and a delegation of young women from the Lyceum of Greek Women of Sydney.

The high-ranking visitors were accompanied on their journey from Melbourne by Bishop Eumenios of Chora.

The visit comes as the Archdiocese prepares for the Pan-Australian Clergy Synaxis, which is expected to bring together clergy from across the country for three days of fellowship, liturgy, and discussion under the leadership of Archbishop Makarios.
