Football Victoria has officially locked in Dan Birrell as its Chief Executive Officer following his interim appointment.
Birrell became interim CEO back in March 2025 when he stepped in following the exit of Chris Pehlivanis (who joined UAE club Al Ain as Chief Operating Officer), and the Football Victoria (FV) Board of Directors has now confirmed his position as permanent following its recruitment process.
“Dan has proven himself to be an outstanding leader during his time as Interim CEO,” said FV Chair Dr Angela Williams in the organisation’s press release.
“His vision, integrity and ability to connect with stakeholders have already had a profound impact on the organisation. The Board is confident that he is the right person to take Football Victoria forward.”
Birrell called it an “immense privilege” to gain the role permanently and continue leading the organisation.
“I am incredibly proud of the progress we have made together over the past six months, and I look forward to continuing to work with staff, clubs, government and partners to build an even stronger, more united football community,” Birrell said.
“Football is the most inclusive and accessible sport in Victoria, and I am committed to ensuring that it continues to thrive for generations to come.”
