Greek Australian Marie Karekla has been recognised among the leaders in Climate Control News’ 2025 Women in HVACR Top 20 list.
Karekla, who is Head of Conferences, Events and Business Development at the Australian Institute for Refrigeration and Heating (AIRAH), was among the 20 women announced on 9 October, standing out in what was a record number of entries for this year’s list.
The initiative recognises talented women and their valuable contribution to the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration industry.
The Greek Australian originally from Adelaide noted her pride to have been honoured among the 20 candidates for the 2025 edition of the Women in HVACR initiative.
“I’m incredibly honoured to be named in the top 20 list alongside so many inspiring women,” Karekla said.
“I feel truly lucky every day to work with such a talented, passionate team – their support and brilliance make everything possible.”
She added: “Recognition like this is a reminder of the power of collaboration and the importance of lifting women up in our industry”.
AIRAH CEO Sami Zheng, Affil.AIRAH, expressed her pride in Karekla for the honour.
“She truly deserves this recognition – not only for her outstanding contributions and the exceptional work she has delivered to the industry, but also for the inspiring leadership she demonstrates every day,” Zheng said.
