Nottingham Forest have sacked Aussie manager Ange Postecoglou after a 3-0 home defeat by Chelsea in the English Premier League left him without a win in eight matches.

Postecoglou replaced Nuno Espirito Santo as manager on September 9 but despite some promising moments in games, he racked up some unwanted statistics as Forest manager.

He is the first Forest boss not to win any of first eight matches, during which his side conceded 18 goals.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis left his seat midway through Saturday’s match at City Ground and an announcement on Postecoglou’s future was confirmed just 19 minutes after full-time.

It was the Australian’s first job since being fired by Tottenham at the end of last season, despite leading Spurs to the Europa League trophy.

Former Burnley and Everton manager Sean Dyche has been strongly linked with the Forest job in recent days.
