Greece’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ioannis Loverdos, visited the Australian Hellenic Memorial in Melbourne on Friday, as part of his official delegation’s program in Australia.

Loverdos was visibly moved and expressed deep admiration for the memorial, which stands proudly in the heart of Melbourne as a lasting tribute to all servicemen and women who served and died in Greece during the Second World War.

“It is important not to forget what the Greek people and all their Allies suffered during World War Two,” Loverdos said.

“We have a duty to remember them.”

The Australian Hellenic Memorial continues to serve as a powerful symbol of shared sacrifice and enduring friendship between Greece and Australia, honouring the bonds forged in times of war and preserved through generations.
