There has been just one locally acquired COVID-19 case and one overseas acquired case in hotel quarantined reported in the 24 hours up to midnight, 18 June, as a further layer of restrictions have been lifted in Victoria. There are a total of 54 active cases in the state.

The Victorian Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) reported that 35,252 test results received, and 16,710 vaccine doses administered over the same period. The total number vaccinated to date is 868,512.

The easing of restrictions in Melbourne have included the lifting of the travel ban between the city and regional Victoria.

Sydney is reported to be on alert as the number of cases reported in the eastern suburbs of the city grew to three yesterday, when a woman in her 70s tested positive to COVID-19. A limousine driver was found to be infected with more contagious Delta strain of the virus. The man’s passengers included international airline crews.

In Canberra, health authorities are on the alert after a man from Sydney who tested positive had travelled to the federal capital to visit an exhibition when he may have been infectious.

South Australia has closed its borders to anyone who has been in Sydney’s COVID-19 hotspots. The state government has call on South Australians who have been in Sydney’s high risk locations or who are still in New South Wales to isolate and contact SA Health for ways to return to the state.

The Queensland government has announced that as from 1am on 19 June, travellers to Queensland from the rest of Australia and New Zealand are required to complete a travel declaration.
