The strong presence of the Greek Australian community in the new board of the Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia (FECCA), the peak body of the Ethnic Communities Councils in Australia, has been retained. At the biennial conference of FECCA in the Gold Coast last week, Eugenia Grammatikakis from Melbourne was re-elected as Vice president. Dina Karakatsanis of South Australia’s Ethnic and Multicultural Communities Council was also elected as Vice President. The new President of FECCA is the President of the Ethnic Communities Council of Victoria Joe Caputo. The executive officer of the organisation is Lucas Nikolaou.
The theme of this year’s conference was: Breaking down the barriers: A strength-based approach for a just society.
FECCA’s biennial conferences draw together leading decision makers, thinkers and practitioners to discuss and debate key issues that relate to Australia’s cultural and linguistic diversity.
