On the 47th anniversary of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian extended her support to the Cypriot community of Australia.

She called for justice for Cyprus and acknowledged the contribution made by the Australian Cypriot and Greek communities. She said Cypriot migrants “have worked hard over five generations to keep their culture and language alive in Australia.”

“Each year, the community reflects on the thousands of lives lost in the conflict and honours their sacrifice,” she said, acknowledging that more than 200,000 people were displaced by the occupation at this time.
