The figures for Victoria over the 24 hours to midnight Wednesday 21 July show there were 22 locally acquired cases of COVID-19 and one from overseas, bringing the total of active cases in the state to 118.
Victoria’s Department of Health and Human Services(DHSS) said that all of the locally acquired cases were linked to the current outbreaks. The ABC reported that a person from Wellington Shire in Gippsland was found to have caught the virus from a sporting event in Melbourne. Three people were receiving hospital care last night.
Over that over the same period, the DHHS said 18,099 vaccine doses were administered bringing the total number of vaccinations in the state to 1,4231,625.
In recording 59,355 test results yesterday, Victoria broke the previous record for tests carried out in one day.

In New South Wales there was a reduction with 79 new cases yesterday and a total of 669 cases reported over the past week. The total active cases in the state is 1,212. The Sydney Morning Herald reported there were 82 patients in hospital receiving treatment for COVID-19 , 24 of whom were in intensive care units.
South Australia recorded one new case overnight. The state went into hard lockdown yesterday after recording five cases of COVID were reported that were linked to a cluster at Modbury Hospital. One of those people was is a diner of The Greek on Halifax restaurant.
Meanwhile, Federal Prime Minister Scott Morrison told Adelaide Five AA radio station that the vaccine rollout in Australia was about two months behind the schedule set at the beginning of the year but said that vaccines would be available to everyone by the end of the year.
“We have been moving with that urgency and we have been increasing that urgency. We haven’t got every decision right, no country has in this pandemic,” the prime minister said.
