Australia’s greatest football export, Ange Postecoglou, is reveling in the joy of his first Scottish Premiership victory, after Celtic battered Dundee 6-0 at Celtic Park.

It was a welcome win after Postecoglou’s new team got off on the wrong foot, having fallen out of the Champions League qualifiers and losing the first round of the Premiership to the Hearts.

New recruit Kyogo Furuhashi led the team to its smashing victory, scoring the opening two goals in the first half and sealed his third midway through the second.

“He’s a clever guy,” Postecoglou told BBC Scotland when asked about the Japanese forward.

“It’s not a surprise to me. I knew what I was getting bringing him over. He got the goals and could’ve had a couple more, but his work rate off the ball was sensational.”

The former Socceroos coach also credited Furuhashi for the excitement and “energy” he brought, which he believes the players and their fans fed off.

“That got the crowd going and that is what he brings; that energy. The other boys filtered off that, and I think in general with our energy for the 90 minutes we didn’t take our foot off the pedal. It was pleasing,” Postecoglou told Celtic TV

The remaining three goals scored were thanks to Socceroo Tom Rogic, right-back Anthony Ralston and substitute Odsonne Edouard who took over from Furuhashi in the 68th minute, scoring the penalty shot.

“We were relentless and didn’t take our foot off the pedal, so it was pleasing,” Postecoglou said.

“We started the game really well which set the tone and it was a good performance from the players.”

“I’m delighted for them, and they got their rewards for their hard work.”

Celtic will return to the pitch on Friday morning (AEST) for the second leg of the Europa League third-round qualifier against Jablonec.
