Held by the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria, Term 1 of the 2014 Greek History and Culture Seminars will be launched with the lecture Explorations of Beauty and Desire in Ancient Greece, by Professor Alastair Blanshard.

Professor Blanshard is the inaugural Paul Eliadis Chair of Classics and Ancient History at the University of Queensland. He is an internationally recognised leader in the field of classical tradition, and a series editor for the Classics after Antiquity monograph series published by Cambridge University Press.

The GOCMV seminars provide the opportunity to members of the broad community to delve into the long and fascinating history of Greece, and the Greek culture in its various forms and stages, aspects of which have formed the foundation of Western civilisation.

This year all seminars are free and open to the public.

When: Thursday 27 March at 7.00 pm
Where: Ithacan Philanthropic Society building, Level 2, 329 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne
