Matthew Guy is set to replace Greek Australian minister Nicholas Kotsiras as the new Minister for Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship. Victorian Premier Denis Napthine made the announcement of his new Ministry on Thursday following a spate of retirements.

In an effort to kick start his government, plagued lately with pre-selection in fighting, parliamentary debacles and polls that indicate that the Coalition in Victoria
has an uphill battle on its hands if it is to retain power on November 29, Dr Napthine announce a refreshed and rejuvenated Cabinet team as he said, aiming to continue building a better Victoria.

In the new Cabinet, Matthew Guy retained his portfolio as planning minister and added the portfolio of Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship, a responsibility exercised until now by Nick Kotsiras who has announced his decision not to recontest his Bulleen seat at this November’s state election.

It is worth noting that Matthew Guy, who is considered to be a future contender for the leadership of the Liberal Party in Victoria, is moving from the Upper to the Lower House in November, and will be a candidate for the seat of Bullen, held for a number of years by Nick Kotsiras.
