More than 250 members of the Greek Australian community gathered last Saturday at a fundraiser housed at the premises of St Anargyri Oakleigh Greek Orthodox Church and supported by the Greek Orthodox Community of Oakleigh and Districts. They managed to collect more than $20,000 in order to help 33-year-old cancer sufferer Dimitri Moras.

Greek-born Dimitris Mitch Moras arrived in Melbourne in March to visit with family and friends, however, two weeks after his arrival he was diagnosed with high risk Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

The money raised at last weeks function will be used to finance Moras’ chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant scheduled for the coming months.
