Consecutive losses is actually something very new for the Hawthorn Spartans. Last week, it lost once again to the Old Xaverians, amounting to its first consecutive loss since the club’s inception.

The game was lost in the second and third quarter, where the Spartans lost concentration and gave up the prospect of a win, easily breaking the defence line against a much more in tune opponent.

Averaging about six to 10 individual goalkickers all season, the Spartans only had five this match, ending in a 57-87 score.

Not all was lost at least, with the team showing promise in the last quarter to show that their fight was still not over.

The team now enters its preliminary final on Sunday, where they take on Prahran Assumption at 2.00 pm at Sportscover Arena, Glenhuntly Road, Elsternwick.

The club is calling for their fans to come and support them in their last games of the season. Every person helps.

It will be a big game, as the winner goes into the grand final on Sunday 24 August at 2.30 pm at the same venue.
