Name

Alli Van Ommen, 24, member of the N.E water polo team in Patras.

Your greatest achievements and how you reached them

Being chosen to represent Australia at the World University Water Polo games in Serbia and making the senior squad. Since then, I got offered a contract to play for the N.E Patras water polo team in Patras, where I am now.

I achieved this by years of hard work and determination, and despite falling down numerous times along the way I never gave up. In the same year, I graduated from a Master of Osteopathy.

Goals for the future

To be the best water polo player I can be, and to begin my career not only as a professional water polo player but as an osteopath as well.

Best moment of your life

When I realised anything really is possible if you want it bad enough, for me that was September 2008.

One word that describes you the best

Stubborn.

Person you most admire and why

Cathy Freeman, because despite all her personal issues that were going on at the time, and the weight of Australia resting on her shoulders, not to mention her own expectations of herself, she still won herself and Australia that gold medal.

Most embarrassing moment

Turning up to training at 5am one morning with my bathers inside out – my team mates never let me hear the end of it!

If I could say anything to the Greek community.

Live your life without limits.

Favourite place to go

Jan Juc surf beach, or Philip Island.

Song that I can’t get out of my head at the moment

Fortunate Fool-Jack Johnson.

Favourite Greek food

Moussaka.

I can’t live without…

The beach and sun.

If I was Kevin Rudd for a day I would…

Smile more.
