Brunswick City soccer club (Leonidas) will get a $200,000 upgrade to Dunston Reserve if Labor wins the state election in November.

The club will see its northern pitch lengthened, the southern pitch realigned and pitch surface improved to make the club compliant for the National Premier League’s standards.

Announcing the initiative this week, Jane Garrett, Labor member for Brunswick, says the club will be able to better cater to the footballing community of the inner north.

“Brunswick City Soccer Club has been serving the community since 1970, now consisting of over 200 members, with over 150 junior players,” she said.

“Labor’s plan will allow the club to better utilise the space at Dunstan Reserve and improve the quality of the pitch, allowing more play and fewer cancellations and injuries.”

“This investment will allow more participation in local sport for local families.”

The project will need additional funding from the Moreland City Council.
