The Hawthorn Spartans have named Anthony Demetriou as their best and fairest during their annual awards nights held on September 26.

Voted in with 160 votes, Demetriou was followed by Tony Brizzi (156) and Mohammed Dabab (152) for the coveted award.

Also taking home awards was the year’s goal machine Ari Mitropoulos, who took home the leading goal kicker award and the joint best first year player with
Bizzi.

Most improved was Dean Ekonomides, while encouragement awards went to Andrew Tashevski-Beckwith, Sam Zito, James El Moussalli, Adam Karim.
Best levendi awards went to Chris Katsanevakis and Andrew Toumbakis, while Anthony Marguccio took home the super levendi award.

The club were minor premiers this year, ending their season with a whopping 14 match winning streak. They sadly lost their grand final match against the Old Xaverians, not able to grab their fourth premiership in a row.
