Greek singer and philanthropist Giannis Ploutarhos’ long-anticipated concert took place on Monday 3 November in Melbourne. Fans gathered in the Arts Centre venue, filling each and every one of Hamer Hall’s 2,464 seats over three levels. Every member of the audience was treated with a goodie bag, filled with presents from the sponsors.

True to his uncommon name, the much-loved Greek singer indulged the audience with his heavenly voice. The attendees soon started singing along and dancing, followed by Giannis Ploutarhos himself, who after taking to the stage decided to step down and continue his impeccable performance amongst the crowd.

The concert sealed the twentieth anniversary of the 3XY Radio Hellas, giving Ploutarhos’ fans the chance to listen to his recent album first hand, in an attempt to raise funds for three major service providers for the Greek Australian community, bringing together all generations as well as ensuring its welfare and prosperity.

The proceeds from the concert translate into the amount of $90,000, and will be allocated to three community organisations; Fronditha Care, Agapi Care Inc and the Australian Greek Welfare Society.

At the end of the concert, the fans couldn’t stop cheering for the artist who – accompanied by the manager of Greek Media Group Spyros Alatsas, Harry and Melina Stamoulis, chairpersons of the community organisations, and Con Tangalakis and George Taktikos from Delphi Bank – presented the literally and metaphorically enormous cheque.
