The Victorian Government under the leadership of Steve Herbert MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Education, has released a discussion paper on a new language education strategy for schools in Victoria.
Victorian MPs John Pandazopoulos, and Jenny Mikakos have organised for Mr Herbert to attend a forum to discuss the paper with the Greek Community.
The forum will be held next Monday February 22 at 7.00pm at the Greek Community building.
“It is imperative that Victoria’s large Greek community, have the opportunity to not only be briefed on the discussion paper, but to also have a say” John Pandazopoulos said.
“We are pleased to be joining with the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria (GOCMV) on a subject so dear to our hearts.”
Jenny Mikakos noted that historically, Greek-Australians have been passionate about the teaching of second languages as a way of maintaining one’s heritage.
