A man accused of killing another man in a hotel room in Melbourne’s Crown Metropol – part of the wider casino complex – appeared in court on Thursday.

Elias Herodotou, 28 of Hadfield, was charged with murder after Darren John Webb was found with a fatal neck wound in the hotel room on July 4.

He was arrested after police appealed to the public for information on his whereabouts.

His lawyer claimed that Herodotou may be withdrawing from substances including the drug ice, but Chief Magistrate Peter Lauritsen remanded him to appear before a committal mention hearing on November 5.
