The works and creative vision of Savaad Felich, Max Grierson, Robyn Henchel and Mim Kocher come together in an alternative exhibition in Victoria.

Felich’s playful art practice utilises timber and reclaimed materials, whereas Henchel’s constantly changing landscapes portray the world’s need for movement.

Via Kocher’s sculptures in this exhibition tell stories of the incredible diversity of life on Melbourne’s rooftops. His recycled bases present a diverse reality.

In Max Grierson’s work, images appropriated from fashion and advertising have been adapted for parody and satire. Original myths and legends are reinterpreted and humorous elements added. Images cannot always be taken at face value; there is often an underlying story.

Most of the drawings are visual puns and are meant to have a light touch in highlighting the ‘menace of the frivolous’ in the repetitiously offered imagery of the mass media.

The drawings poke fun at the shallow nature of some popular imagery and question the credibility of myth and legend. There is some social criticism as well; the view that people are only valuable as consumers and everything is a commodity.
