Sia Psicharis has been awarded the Beauty Salon Director of the Year Award 2015.

The awards ceremony took place last weekend in Sydney, where the ‘who’s-who’ of the beauty industry gathered.

Melbourne-born Psicharis, with more than 12 years in the industry and the last nine running her own business, has won more than 10 awards in recent years at similar events.

Ms Psicharis, of Cypriot and Peloponnese heritage, told Neos Kosmos that gender doesn’t play a role in today’s business world. “We have gone through this stage,” she says, adding that training, experience and passion dictate those who climb to success.

Sia says that winning this award confirms her belief that regardless of barriers, there is always an innovative solution. “Directorship comes with results, results come from an inspiring dedicated team.”

She thanked her family, friends and colleagues who had helped realise her “crazy ideas”.

A philanthropist as well as a salon owner, Sia supports a number local charities as well as ‘Spoil a Red Cross Volunteer’ every month. Sia has also developed her own ‘Ismini’ heat pack using home-grown lavender. The product is named after her grandmother.
