Federal MP Maria Vamvakinou and Greek MP Theodoros Soldatos share many commonalities besides their careers in politics.
They both trace their descent from the Municipality of Apollonion in the Greek island of Lefkada.
Ms Vamvakinou was born in Lefkada yet became an MP in Australia. Ironically, Mr Soldatos was born in Australia and became an MP in Greece.
Last Monday they had a chance to meet once again during an event hosted by other Greek Australians from Lefkada.
It should be noted that MP Vamvakinou is a member of the Australia – Greece Parliamentary Friendship Group as Mr Soldatos is a member of its counterpart in the Greek Parliament.
