On 26 November in Melbourne, Helen Kapalos will lay out her vision for revamping the state’s multicultural agenda.

Drawing on her own experiences in and out of the media spotlight, Ms Kapalos will present her views on what multiculturalism stands for in contemporary Australia, and the ongoing narrative about what’s required to protect and sustain progressive approaches to cultural diversity and social inclusion.

Speaking to Neos Kosmos, the VMC chair said the upcoming event was an opportunity for Victorians to take part in a conversation “which explores and challenges the modern day definition and currency of the term ‘multiculturalism’ “.

“In sharing the VMC’s new strategic direction, I want to talk about why now, more than ever, it’s important for us to be cohesive and inclusive, and why we’re all part of the solution,” she said.

‘Multicultural or mainstream? A new conversation about multiculturalism in Victoria’ takes place on Thursday 26 November at 6.00 pm at the VMC’s headquarters, 506 Elizabeth Street. Registrations online at www.eventbrite.com.au
