More than 300 industry leaders from around the world gathered in Morocco, last Saturday, where the annual World Travel Awards were held, at the luxurious setting of the Masagan Beach & Golf Resort. Established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate those organisations who push the boundaries of excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry, the Awards are recognized as an international hallmark of quality. The glamorous ceremony resulted to 24 Greek hotels and a management company leaving with the prestigious awards, including one on a global level, four on a European level and 18 on a national level.

The big winner was Minos Imperial Luxury Beach Resort & Spa (in Agios Nikolaos, Crete) which won the award for the World’s Leading Family Hotel 2015.
Other recipients in the European category include Elounda Beach Hotel & Villas (Europe’s Leading Beach Hotel award), Hotel Brain (Europe’s Leading Hotel Management Company Award), Aldemar Royal Mare (Europe’s Leading Spa and Wellness Resort Award), Porto Zante Villas & Spa (Europe’s Leading Villa Resort Award).

WINNERS FROM GREECE

In the National Category Awards, Minos Imperial Luxury Beach Resort & Spa was also the leader, winning the Award for Greece’s Leading All Inclusive Resort. WINNERS FROM CYPRUS

Cyprus hotel industry was also celebrated in the ceremony. The winners in the National Category include Londa Beach Hotel (Cyprus’s Leading Boutique Hotel Award), Hilton Cyprus (Cyprus’s Leading Business Hotel and Cyprus’s Leading Hotel Awards), Aphrodite Hills Holiday Residences (Cyprus’s Leading Hotel Residences Award), Royal Suite @ Four Seasons Hotel (Cyprus’s Leading Hotel Suite Award), St Raphael Resort Cyprus (Cyprus’s Leading Resort Award), Elysium Beach Resort (Cyprus’s Leading Spa Resort Award) and Drakos DMC (Cyprus’s Leading Travel Agency Award).
The title of World’s Leading Airline went to Etihad Airways, further cementing the Abu Dhabi flag-carrier’s impressive performance, as it won the award for the seventh consecutive year.
