These days there are software apps available for almost everything.

While technology increasingly progresses to higher levels, medical apps are replacing conventional teaching materials and methods, keeping health professionals and students up to date.

3D Organon Anatomy is a new medical application developed by Australian-based company Medis Media Pty Ltd.

The director of this company is Dr Athanasios Raikos, an anatomist at Bond University. His team consists of medical professionals, 3D artists and programmers of Greek origin.

Athanasios arrived in Australia only four years ago, bringing experience from Greece and Germany.

3D Organon Anatomy is a feature-rich 3D interactive anatomical atlas enhanced with quality text descriptions, over 4,000 realistic anatomical models/structures and frequently encountered clinical correlations organised per body system.

It is an all-in-one solution for learning clinical, topographic and systems-based anatomy.

Parts of the model design are inspired by ancient Greek statues such as the Hermes of Praxiteles and Deidamia from the battle of Lapiths and Centaurs in sanctuary of Olympia.

The 3D anatomy models can add important cognitive input for understanding the spatial relationship between anatomical structures and features, leading to an increased retention of knowledge.

It is suitable for medical and allied health students and professionals and for laypeople who want to learn more about the inner structure and function of their body.

Furthermore, it is a brilliant tool for patient education in hospitals and private practices and is suitable for students over 12 years old.

3D Organon Anatomy is available in the Apple app store for iPad and iPhone.
