The measles outbreak is no longer confined in Brunswick but has spread to Swinburne University in Hawthorn.

A note was sent to students and staff at Swinburne informing them of the infection and telling everybody to check their immunisation documents as soon as possible, revealing two measles cases connected to the Hawthorn campus.

The university advised students and employees to watch out for signs and symptoms of the viral disease.

“Measles is a highly infectious viral illness, which means that further cases could occur. Please continue to watch out for signs and symptoms,” the university’s note to students said.

According to the Health Department there had been no new cases since the 30-year-old woman found positive to the virus in Brunswick on Wednesday.
