Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Church of America, Archbishop Demetrios, gave out a prayer at the the Republican National Convention for Donald Trump and his running mate, Gov. Mike Pence of Indiana in Cleveland, OH.

The Archbishop offered the benediction immediately following the Remarks by Vice Presidential nominee Mike Pence.

He thanked Mr Trump for inviting him, on such a significant day, to pray for the republican party while the election is drawing to a close.

“Let us now turn our hearts and minds in gratitude to our god and let us pray,” Archbishop Stylianos said.

“Most high god, lord of peace justice and love. We gratify your glorious name for all the blessings that you have bestowed upon our nation. Blessings of land and sea, of health and prosperity, of law and of values of faith and freedom.”

The Archbishop prayed for unity in America’s political processes and throughout the judicial system.

“Our house divided cannot stand,” he emphasised.

“Open there for the hearts and minds of all our people, so that with purpose in spirit and in heart our United States of America will serve you, oh god, faithfully and fervently.”

To this unity, he asked god to bless America and the rest of the world with peace, wisdom, patience and trust.

“Grand to us and to all people… trust in your goodness so that we might learn to live according to your will in harmony and forbearance,” he paused, “so that we might learn to love the people as you god love us.”

Furthermore, he prayed to god to send down his guiding hand upon his servants, the delegates of the republican national convention and their nominees for the office of president and vice president of the US Donald Trump and Mike Pence.

“… lead them on to wisdom (…) so that they may perform your holy will in all cases and under all circumstances and may always be agents of unity peace justice and love both in our country and across the world.”

“We ask all of them, for you are our creator a saviour and in you we offer glory, honour and worship, now and forever and in the ages of ages. Amen,” he concluded.

Archbishop Demetrios is also expected to be invited to also deliver the benediction at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday 25 July, which will be held in Philadelphia.
