Members of Greece’s World Cup team have been robbed, according to South African police.

Police confirmed that cash totalling approximately 1,500 Euros (AUD $2250) had been stolen from three members of the Greek squad.

Greece is staying at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Umhlanga, north of Durban, where the trio reported the money had been taken from their rooms.

Team spokesman Michael Tsapidis told media that the players were not upset by the theft and that they were ”extremely satisfied” with the way the hotel had responded. ”In our opinion this is not such a big deal.

This incident is something that could happen anywhere in the world,” Tsapidis told a press conference.

The Southern Sun Hotels company spokesperson, Priya Naidoo, told website Sport24 that the incident would be investigated.

“It is an allegation and we investigate all allegations,” she said.
