Thanks to a grant of €50,000 from The Hellenic Initiative (THI) and the US Embassy in Greece, 12 promising Greek startups have been given the opportunity to present their products and services in the Greek Booth at the South By Southwest Conference (SXSW).

Held annually in Austin since 1987, the conference is recognised as one of the largest and most important innovation and technology events and this year runs from 10 – 19 March.

The startups participating in 2017 are ASN.gr, Infitheon, Aspalis Concierge, InSybio, Athlenda, SIBA Soft, Centaur Technologies, Tactical Systems, Filmografik Productions, 100mentors, Hopwave, and Boardmaps.

“THI supports Greek startups, reaffirming its belief that entrepreneurship is a key element in building a new generation of creative and innovative business projects that can contribute to Greece’s future prosperity,” the initiative said.

In just three years, the THI has assisted more than 80 Greek startups to participate in SXSW and subsequently get on the right path to operate a successful business.

One example is online training and education company, Schoox. Designed in Thessaloniki, the startup has since managed to raise US$6.5 million (€6,032,650), which has expanded its operations, now employing over 40 people in the Greek city.
