Television presenter Maria Menounos has just quit from her E! News hosting duties after being diagnosed with a meningioma brain tumour.

The news came in February while her mother Litsa is battling stage four brain cancer.

The 39-year-old TV Greek American star has undergone surgery, revealing to People magazine that 99.9 per cent of the tumour was removed during a procedure which took seven hours.

“[My doctor] said there’s a six to seven percent chance that we’ll see it come back…But I’ll take those odds any day,” Menounos told in an interview.

She also took to Instagram to inform her fans of her decision to stop working and focus on recovery as she still hasn’t regained full balance and face mobility.

The TV host wrote in the photo caption:

“First I wanna say thank you all for the well wishes, prayers and support. It’s been a crazy time here in our home. I want you all to know that I’m ok!
