To further commemorate the late Greek Australian poet Dimitris Tsaloumas, a special lecture will be given next week by Dr John Vasilakakos.

Proudly presented by the Greek Orthodox Community of St George Brisbane and AHEPA, ‘The Turbulent Journey of a Greek Australian Poet’ will be a chance to explore the poet’s life and work.

It was political persecution in Greece that led Tsaloumas to migrate to Australia in 1952 where he was given the opportunity to publish his poetry in both Greek and English for which he went on to receive numerous awards.

He passed away at the age of 94 on 4 February last year in his birthplace of Leros.

To find out more, head to the Greek Orthodox Community of St George Welfare Centre (33 Edmondstone St, South Brisbane, QLD) on Monday 23 October at 7.30 pm. Entry by donation. For enquiries, call (07) 3249 1000.
