PAOK achieved a wonderful result away to Turkish side Fenerbahce, thanks to an extra-time winner which gave them a 2-1 aggregate win.

Fellow Thessalonica side Aris also had an away result, drawing 1-1 to win the tie against Austria Vienna 2-1.

In Turkey, Emre scored for ‘Fener’ five minutes into the second half in the second-leg of their Europa League play-off tie, levelling the aggregate score.

But despite several good attempts from both sides, the scores remained deadlocked forcing the tie into extra-time.

Zlatan Muslimovic turned the hero for PAOK as he netted the winner in the 12th minute of extra-time to help his side win the tie 2-1 on aggregate.

Turkish media had earlier reported that buses carrying PAOK fans had been attacked with stones by Fenerbahce fans outside of Istanbul.

Private NTV says PAOK and Fenerbahce fans later threw bottles at each other outside of the stadium and riot police intervened to prevent a possible brawl.

Meanwhile, Aris have made it into the group stages of the Europa League after securing a 1-1 draw away to Austria in Vienna on Thursday and going through 2-1 on aggregate.

The saviour from the first leg, Carlos Ruiz proved Aris’s hero again as the Guatemalan grabbed the vital opening goal a few minutes before half-time.

Austria captain Roland Linz hit back for the home side after 56 minutes but the Macedonian side never looked like losing the game.

Qualification for the group stages is a major financial boost for Hector Raul Cuper’s team as it should bring the club some 5 million euros on earnings.

PAOK and Aris joined AEK who will await the Group Stage to be announced over the weekend.

The three Greek sides and 35 other play-off round winners will be joined by the ten losers from the UEFA Champions League play-offs, including Rosenborg, Dynamo Kiev, Sampdoria and Anderlecht.

The clubs will be split into 12 groups of four teams, playing home and away against each of their pool opponents between September and December.

Two sides from each section advance, proceeding into the round of 32 alongside eight third-placed teams from the UEFA Champions League group stage.
