Djibril Cisse scored two second-half goals to help Panathinaikos overcome a stubborn Kerkyra and move the Greens into top position in the Super League.

PAO are on the same points as Olympiakos, 27 after 12 games, but claim first place because the beat the Reds when the two teams played earlier this month.

Panathinaikos were made to sweat until the 80th minute by Kerkyra and the deadlock was only broken when Cisse was clearly brought down in the box by ex-Coventry goalkeeper Dimi Konstantopoulos.

The Frenchman tucked away the spot kick for his 11th league goal of the season. The 12th followed in the third minute of stoppage time when Cisse beat Konstantopoulos to the ball and skillfully sidefooted into an empty net.

Kavala moved into third spot, on 19 points with AEK, after an injury time Benjamin Onwuachi goal gave them a 1-1 draw at Olympiakos Volou.

Kostas Kapetanos had earlier given the home side the lead in a game where three players, including Onwuachi, were sent off.

PAOK slipped to fifth after being beaten 1-0 at home by Atromitos. In an eventful game, Atromitos goalkeeper Christos Michailidis missed a 42nd minute penalty but Stelios Sfakianakis gave the visitors the lead in the 57th minute.

PAOK, still without a full-time manager, had Giorgos Fotakis sent off with five minutes left.

Aris are in sixth after they were unable to come from 1-0 down against Panserraikos in a game that was suspended on Saturday due to fog but completed on Sunday.

Panionios moved off the bottom, a place now occupied by Larissa, thanks to a 1-0 win over Iraklis. Davor Kukec scored in the second half.

Struggling Xanthi also got a vital win, beating Asteras Tripolis 2-1 away. Adrian Bastia had given the home side the lead in the 15th minute but Xanthi hit back through Christopher Katongo and a Diego Quintana penalty before half time.

Xanthi moved up to ninth on 14 points, the same as Asteras who are in 12th, showing how tight the Super League is this year.

Ismael Blanco was the hero for AEK at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday as he popped up with a 90th minute goal to give the Yellows a 1-0 victory over Super League leaders Olympiakos.

AEK moved into third place on 19 points.

Olympiakos created more than enough chances to beat AEK comfortably and will especially rue a 58th minute penalty miss. Brazilian midfielder Dudu sent the ball over the bar after Marko Pantelic was brought down in the box.

Blanco, on as a second-half substitute, popped up with the winner for AEK in the last minute of normal time after good work in the penalty area from Papa Bouba Diop.

In the day’s other games, Ergotelis beat Larissa 2-1 on Crete and Panserraikos’s game against Aris was stopped in the 54th minute with the home side 1-0 up because of fog.
