Markets throughout Greece were inundated by customers buying lamb and goat to celebrate the Resurrection on Easter Sunday.

The price of lamb and goat this year at the Varvakeio meat market in Athens ranged from 6 to 9 euros per kilogram, roughly the same prices as last year.

Higher prices were commanded by local lamb and goat.

Weekend reports from Greece were that the sale of whole carcasses dropped this year because of the financial crisis and that people were buying smaller portions of meat for their Easter celebrations.
