Napoleon Perdis Cosmetics has teamed up again with Ovarian Cancer Australia to raise funds and awareness for the deadly disease.

On February 18, Napoleon Perdis stores all across Australia hosted a special in-store event “Make Me Over Day” where customers were charged half-price ($40) for a full make-over, with $20 donated to the charity.

Napoleon Perdis store staff were again rallying behind the cause to top last year’s bookings of 832 makeovers. Makeup Artist for the Napoleon Perdis National Creative Team, Anna Papadopoulos, said the company has been supporting Ovarian Cancer Australia since 2008.

“Last year the event was such a big hit, customers are always enthused and it’s so refreshing that half of the makeover dollars go straight to such a wonderful campaign,” Ms Papadopoulos told Neos Kosmos.

“This year we’re trying to beat the 1000 customer mark.” Napoleon Perdis retail staff are always excited to take part in the campaign, Ms Papadopoulos said. “Everyone has been touched by cancer in some way so as staff we are all for helping out where we can.”

In 2008, the cosmetic company donated the net proceeds from the sales of DeVine Goddess Lipstick in Hera to Ovarian Cancer Australia and since February last year it has contributed the net proceeds of every Auto Pilot Lip Service (RRP$28) sold at a Napoleon Perdis concept store.

Every year in Australia around 1500 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer and more than 850 will die of the disease. Ovarian cancer has always been considered a silent killer with about 75 percent of women diagnosed when the cancer is at an advanced stage and is very difficult to treat successfully. When ovarian cancer is diagnosed at an early stage the outlook is exceedingly good, with as many as 90 percent of patients being cured. However, only about 25 percent of diagnosis is at an early stage.
