Greece’s Foreign Ministry said this week that it has booked seats on airplanes for Greek nationals living in Japan who want to evacuate but haven’t been able to reserve any flights.

As there are no direct flights from Greece to Japan, the Foreign Ministry secured seats on a number of flights out of Japan and to ensure their safe arrival. Due to the crisis in Japan – the aftermath of the devastating earthquake and tsunami and the risk of nuclear meltdown – many governments around the world are advising their nationals to leave the country. And also adivising their citizens not to travel to Japan.

There are around 300 Greek nationals who live in Japan.
