Australian Hellenic Cricket Federation (AHCF) has organised the Australian Hellenic Allstars game – a cricket match that will feature some of the best Greek Australian cricketers.

The game is the first local cricket event held by the AHCF, who organised the Greek Australian cricket team to tour Greece and play against the Greek national cricket team in September 2010. The day will feature back-to-back 20/20 games starting at 11 am and for the Hellenic flavour there will be Greek music, souvlaki and traditional dancers.

Nick Hatzoglou, President of the AHCF said, “we were very pleased by the community support for the inaugural tour of Greece and an All-stars game seemed a logical next step. The Greek Australian community has some terrific cricket talent and we extend an invitation to people who enjoy cricket to come along and celebrate cricket with Zorba.”

This event will showcase some of the best Australian Greek cricketers including Sydney first grade veteran and Blacktown captain Paul Maraziotis and Victorian Premier League cricketers James Nanopoulos from Dandenong, Hawthorn Monash’s Elias Karageorgiou and up-and-coming Sunshine Heights young cricketers Stephen Hatzistavrou and Nick Deligiannis.

The match will help identify talented cricketers of Hellenic ancestry for selection in the Australian Hellenic touring team to represent Australia in the 2012 Four Nations tournament to be held in Corfu, Greece. The day will also feature the best of the rising Greek cricket talent some of whom will be touring Greece in April 2011 as part of the World School tournament, held annually in Corfu. The game will be held on Sunday 3 April at Fawkner Park, South Yarra.
