Greek Australian director Nadia Tass has won the award for Best Director at the Milan International Film Festival for her film Matching Jack.

Tass was in Paris last week, where she screened Matching Jack for an invited audience at the Australian Embassy and received a wonderful response.

From there, she travelled to London for Matching Jack’s screening at The Barbican Centre as part of the London Australian Film Festival, where the film again received an enthusiastic response, a representative from Cascade Films told Neos Kosmos. This week Matching Jack screened at the 64th Cannes Film Festival as part of Cannes Cinephile hosted by Cannes Antipodes.

In the last couple of months Matching Jack has also played at the Palm Beach International Film Festival, Cleveland International Film Festival, Belfast Film Festival Internationales Filmwochenende Wurzburg (Germany), Tiburon International Film Festival and the Newport Beach Film Festival.

Leonard Maltin, who recently viewed the film described it as “a deeply emotional film, clearly made with tender loving care. Kodi Smit-McPhee gives an utterly remarkable performance in a cast full of fine actors”.
