Goals from Pedro Rodriguez, Lionel Messi and David Villa gave Barcelona the edge over their competition. Striker Wayne Rooney was the lone goal scored for United but the way Barcelona were playing, the final score could have been more damaging to United’s long history and Alex Ferguson’s reputation as a coach.
Lionel Messi at the age of 24 is showing signs of greatness that could soon see his name called in the same vein as Pele and Maradona.
This is the fourth European Cup for Barcelona and the third in the last five years and with coach Pep Guardiola masterminding the plays, they are set to win many more.
