White supremacist groups using propaganda to voice religious and racial hatred will undergo intense investigations by the Victorian Government.
“We’ve got a very strong commitment to ensuring Victoria remains a harmonious, multifaithful and multicultural society” says Nicholas Kostaris Minister of Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship, but with fundamentalists spreading their message this is easier said than done.
The investigation, conducted by the Victorian Multicultural Commission and the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission, will look into the extent of the prejudice and racial hate incidents since July 1 2001.
“Victoria is the multicultural capital of Australia and our cultural diversity is one of greatest assets,” Kostaris says. “It is important we remain vigilant and guard against extremist views and actions that incite racial hatred and violence… to live in peace and harmony.”
