The Hawthorn Spartans officially celebrated their inaugural season last Friday with their inaugural best and fairest award’s evening.

The event saw more than 200 of the faithful pack into Greek nightclub, Kinisi Live, for a night of entertainment, video packages and honouring award winners.

Players, families, friends and the club’s sponsors attended the event. Major sponsors Bank of Cyprus Australia and OPA! Magazine were presented with Spartan photo boards of the season past.

The evening had a number of surprises for guests, none bigger than the video appearance of AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou to assist with the vote-reading.

Awards were presented to Con Terzoglou (Best and fairest winner), Nick Criticos (Runner-up) George Dellaportas (third place and leading goal kicker), Andrew Boocock (Finals MVP Award), Andrew Toumbakis (Best Clubman) and Julian Handford (Most improved player).

The gala award night capped off a successful year for the Hawthorn Spartans who finished runners-up and ensured the success of the Spartans in their first season.

The playing group look forward to another four weeks of leisure until pre-season training commences in November.
